Chrissy Sewing...

Geez Christmas is just around the corner and I still have so much to do...
plus I am going to Perth on Wednesday to pick up my daughter and my MIL...
do some Christmas shopping as I have done very little and a food shop and I will fit a tidy up at the hairdressers before I head back home as early as I can Friday morning to get home before the heat that day and expected temp of 40...
mug rugs for some footy fans and the mug writing idea off Pinterest...
 nephew
 bro-in-law
another bro-in-law... he is boss at his work.
I found these in the home ware shop ''Matchbox''
and made a mug rug to go with them
this one is for my sis-in-law
and this one for my niece...
 more Christmas cooking
 Peanut Brittle
it is so yummy and morrish that I had to put it away quickly...
recipe as follows
Peanut Brittle
2 cups white sugar
150g unsalted butter
250g salted roasted peanuts
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Combine the sugar and butter with 1/4cup water in a large heavy based saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir gently until sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil, then boil rapidly, without stirring for 10 to 15 minutes.
Working quickly pour the mixture onto the prepared tray and tilt to spread out.
Use a metal spoon to help it spread. Place tray somewhere cool and wait for brittle to set. Shatter into pieces and store in an airtight container.
enjoy...

It's Been Raining...

And we needed it everything was getting very dry around here and more would be so nice...
we had 31 mls over the last 3 days...
the rain has been from thunderstorms in the area and good that there has been rain with them as some of the lightning has been pretty severe too...
and we have had 3 fires in the area already this start of summer...
this morning when I got up at 4.45am this is what I saw...
 fog everywhere
I was going to go for a walk and see if I could see the house once I walked into it
but Hubby was still sleeping and he might I come looking for me especially if he heard the gate
(he is a light sleeper)...
Our water heater *%#@ itself so we needed to replace it...
now don't be shocked some of you as this is what a lot of Aussie use to have for hot water in the early days... we still have one and they give the best hot water ever plus we have crappy water so a solar hot water system is out of the question...
 the very sooty inside...
the old drum that sprung leaks
the new drum all ready to go in...
these hot water systems are called ''donkeys'' and I am not sure why... we use drums that have been used to store honey in them as they are thicker than some others... once heated up for the first few weeks the water smells like cooked honey in cakes...
it's a messy job so I took off my clothes and helped in my bras and knickers when I was called for...

Aussie Hero's and Brides...

I can't believe the last post I did was on 15th October so long ago...
so much has happened or I should say I have been busy...
my biopsy came back with out a nasty result, the lump still needs to come out
so a future minor op I will having...
I have had another trip to Perth in that time as well but for something wonderful....
wedding dress shopping with my girls...
spent the Saturday at 3 bridal shops with our middle daughter and tried on so many gorgeous dresses
the one I like is by an Italian designer and vintage lacy and it did look beautiful on her...
the only problem going on a Saturday is that there are 9 other brides with their bridal party and Mum trying on dresses as well so you don't get to see some of the ones you may like...
when I go back down we will go on a week day and hopefully it's not so busy...
eldest daughter was dresses shopping on Sunday and we went into Fremantle to a little shop that sells dresses by a designer from the east coast of Aussie... the shop owner opened early for us so we had the shop and her to ourselves... gorgeous floaty dresses with a little bling on them...
well she tried on 4 dresses and chose hers so we paid for it and it is expected to be ready in February... one bride done one bride to go...
my car is in at the ''car plastic surgeon'' and will be ready in a few weeks...

in between all this travelling up and down to Perth I have been doing a little Aussie Hero sewing..
first off I received a heap of blocks from Jan-Maree that needed squaring up
enough for 2 quilts...

 once done the sewing began...
one pile of blocks made this quilt...
another pile this one... love the limes.
and this one is the top I made early
and will be traveling overseas to one of our Hero's also...
it was an awful windy day yesterday
trying to catch a break between the showers and wind for photo's took awhile...
all labeled and ready for their new owners...
