A Finish....
These pretties should have been on my
''things to finish in 2010" but i forgot about them....

I did the stitcheries last year as a BOM with IFQ and I have had them pinned in a plastic zip bag on my sewing room wall...
time to do something with them

So I made pillow cases... all my blocks have been stitched with variegated DMC embroidery thread as at the time I had no idea what I would do with them...
the pattern was given out for a wall hanging at the end...
these will be so much more useful I think especially when they will be sitting up on my bed....

A close up... and you might just see the free form machine quilting I did in the borders with a variegated lime thread...
and I found I sewed these better with my feed dogs up???? and I did read in a book when I was having trouble that the author prefers to use hers up as well??

HaHaHaHa
I Did It Again...
Today is our 27th Wedding Anniversary
and as usual I forgot...
I did wonder why Hubby was taking his time in heading off to work ...
OOOOPPPPPSSSSS
He did remind me after he realised I wasn't aware of the date...
Happy Anniversary Fred xxxx

Life Is A Celebration....
I have been busy working on my Homespun magazine BOM and yeah I am behind as usual hahaha....
But this block was fiddle... lots of little pieces and lots of stitching....

A very cute block by Natalie Ross her block is about "Friends"... Friends share and rejoice in our triumphs and successes, they help celebrate milestones, they provide and ear when you need to divulge a secret or a shoulder to lean on in trying times... true words Natalie...

Tea and cake are the ingredients for friends when they meet up...

Now onto the next two blocks....

Bits and Pieces...
How bad am I.... a few weeks ago... yes a few weeks ago I received my first swap from the Quilting Blocks Swap Australia
and my partner was Cheryll
and this is the fantastic block she made for me..

I am asking for stars done in red and aqua as I have a vision of a whole quilt in stars of these colours... I just like the colour combination and have seen many different quilts in magazines using this and they do have a bit of a WOW factor about them...
Thank you Cheryll xxx

And this little cutie is part of a quilt for a special friend and I can't show you anymore as she don't know about it...
but once she has it in her hot little hands I will reveal more...

This is a hexie swap that I am doing over at IFQ and this is the second one that I have made... I have decided that when I make one for my partner I will make one for me also... that way I get more added to my pile a lot quicker...
They are so easy to make and so quick...

My middle daughter or should I say ''our'' has been home for a week and is heading back to Perth today... her Dad has had her busy hunting dingo's down our south end with him and she has been catching up on some sleep...
she is a Nanny and the little fella she looks after is 18 months and she has had him since he was 3 months old... he is a real cutie..
she heads back today to pick her partner up from the plane.. her works away on a oil rig...

Raggedy and Friends...
While I was housing in Perth the other week I thought it would be a great opportunity to make a start on my Raggedy BOM blocks from Karren at The Painted Quilt... these blocks are free and Karren has designed them herself...

Block One
I have chosen to do all my blocks in green embroidery thread and I am going to work with fabric's out of my ''green scrap box''... so far I am liking what I see... and in saying that.... I see that I have left a strip off the side of this block hahahahaha...
back to the scrap box and machine with this block.............
.

Block Two
No missing side strips here.....
and yes there will be splashes of "lime"...
don't you notice that I get it in where ever I can...

Block Three
Oh Yeah Oh Yeah a Little More Lime Here Toooooo....
I am very pleased with myself in getting these done
as block four is due out on the 20th...
So go check Karren's blog out and download the pattern for now or future use...

Batik's and Roses....
When my eldest went to Bali the other week... the reason for my house sitting in Perth...
she remembered her Mum while away and sourced out some fabrics for me... beautiful batik's...
the photo's never do the fabric's justice...
the colours are so vibrant and so pretty... there is about a metre and a half in these... not sure what to do with them yet so I'll put them away for now until I see a pattern but I am thinking something summery maybe some pants????
This piece she got from the actual ''batik making factory'' on her little tour around the island...
it feels so different from the other pieces and she tells me cost her a''lot'' more... this piece I could use for a background and pick other fabric out using the colours with in this...
spoilt I was... plus I got a couple of very nice sarong's which are my summer clothing out here and movies to watch while I sew...
are these roses just gorgeous... ''Seduction'' these ones are...
just perfectly formed slight hints of colour...
not sure what this one is called... it does have a slight scent once fully opened...
just beautiful...
I have always loved roses as my Nana had those very big old fashioned ones in her garden
and the smell was just wonderful...
she would always buy me rose scent powder from Avon for Christmas...
when she was sick and in the last months of her life she would tell me not to come to close as she smelt...
I told her never she smelt like my Nana like roses and I would lay down next to her and we would talk until she was too tired... geez I miss her but while I have roses and flowers in my garden she is always around me...

Two Swaps...
These are the mosaic blocks that my friend Ann from Canada has made me... mmm not sure what happened with the top block as it is all in beautiful lime green with a touch of yellow... might have been to close with the flash or maybe it was the light through the window... I now have 17 of these blocks time to make a decision as to what I will do with them seeing the swap is coming to an end... I do think it would make a great table cloth for my outside table ''bright and welcoming''....
and seeing I spent yesterday washing the veranda and trimming plants and fixing up pots and washing garden furniture all ready for the summer... with no rain in these parts for months the ground is very dry so the red dust just blows everywhere and on everything...

Over at IFQ I have joined the "Hexie Swap"... these are a little bigger than the normal hexie and have batting... for my first hexie I have used some of the charm squares that I have collected over the years and this is what I will probable keep doing with this swap but I have also decided.....
That I will do a little stitching on them to help them sit flatter and make them more pretty... it looks a little boring to be....

Evening Primrose...

These are the ones the ones outside my sewing room... so pretty and pink with a few petunia's in there...

Blogger Wont Be Nice
Here I am trying to post some photo's but for some reason I can't write above my first pic mmmmmmm talk about annoying !!!!
Well as you can see I had a wonderful bundle of fabric awaiting my return from Perth... ''Bliss by Bonnie and Camille'' purchased at the Fat Quarter Shop online... it is still in it's plastic wrap awaiting a project... maybe I will use it here at ''Creativity Amongst Chaos'' I have signed up for this new BOM and prepaid for the pattern... it looks so gorgeous... and is due to start in January 2011... will I have all other projects finished and be ready to start another??????

Spring In The Garden
While away a few things flowered... beds of Evening Primrose are flowering and looks so pretty... pic's tomorrow as blogger wont upload it...
This potted rose was given to me when my youngest brother died 9 years ago... its called Chameleon which is very fitting for him...
And Babies
This little one was born on Thursday and has such long legs... still thinking of a name for her... her mum is Brooke so I need a ''B'' name
and this is ''Little Lily'' she was born about 2 weeks ago and is still so weeny... the lamb that is 4 days old it nearly twice her size...
And I have Blocks Done...
I have sewn all day today to catch up with my block swaps...
This one is for my ''mosaic swap'' on IFQ
my partner lives in New York USA she provided the centre square....
These are for my Canadian friend Ann... she joined the swap late and it is about to end so we are doing a swap on the side ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh....
This block is a swap I am doing with Quilting Block Swap Australia and I have two partners for October Shauna from Canada... she requested either ''shoo fly. churn dash or star's'' in any colours... I chose the Ohio Star as it is one of my favourite star blocks....
and my next block.......
is for Leona in Florida USA... she requested ''flying geese'' in reproduction fabric's and a white background... I chose to do three rows that will make up a 12 in block or to be used in her quilt...
So now that I have caught up with most of my swap blocks tomorrow I am going to start on a ''secret girls project'' I will give sneak peaks but you will have to wait to see the finished quilt...

I am Home....
After being away for mmmmmmm was it 12 days hahaha I thought it about time to get home... no really I was due home on Wednesday and came home that day... I left at 5.30am and was home early afternoon... set the new computer up only to find all my email address have gone boohoo and all my saved sites in my favourites has gone too... I did ask the fella to transfer it all... oh well neva mind I am slowly building my addresses back up... I think it is because we have change to Windows 7 and Microsoft Outlook... but hey I don't really care as long as I can blog and catch up on what you all have been doing...
I have a busy few days coming up doing block swaps... first I must unpack all my crap and new crap so I can start... hubby fixed my sewing table... it was sagging in the middle as it needed another leg as my new sewing machine ''the purple beast'' is a wee bit heavy for it.....I went to Ikea and got another leg he has attached it this afternoon so now I can unpack the sewing machines...
Hopefully I will have a few pic's for you over the weekend... fabric... new lambs... oh and some sewing...
