What I have been doing...
I have been working on this little stitchery that I sort of made up... I have been trying my hand at using coloured pencils with needle work... it will be trial and error... but I nearly have this finished....
I just need to finish the binding and then I will show you... I am going to put it towards a raffle that we run on my friend Bobbie's site... we run these raffles sort of monthly and this month is "something for Easter''... boohoo I haven't won one yet... but I did get a bonus prize from the lady who runs the raffles for us for not "being a winner yet''... There have been some wonderful prizes...
The weather was a bit cooler today 38 so I cleaned my dinning room up and cooked a casserole in the morning to save heating the kitchen up in ''the heat of the day''... tomorrow is expected to be 43c... more pool time...

A Finish... A Gift... Plus More...
The Hubby has been away in Perth for a couple of days.............. so I took over the lounge room with my sewing machine...
This block is a swap that I have joined at IFQ it is ''mosaic tiles'' so far I have collected 5 and this one is for my new partner Kitty... she sent me the centre square and all I had to do was match up some colours... it will be in the mail to her tomorrow...
I also added my friendship stars that I was making to my ''ostrich quilt''... I have opted out of putting the other two borders on..... so I am being and ''ostrich''... I just need to get some thin batting and this will be a table cloth... stay tuned for a finished photo of this one and then I can take it off my list....
A finish.......
Number 9 ''Shattered Glass Poppy Table Runner'' finished... I did start this uuuuummmmm about 4 years ago maybe then forgot about it... so I spent last week machine stitching around each petal, leaf and stem and I can tell you that is a boring job but the look is great once finished...
The patterns are by Dianne Johnston she has a great range of different products.... next one of hers I have to finish is a ''calla lily'' hanging....
A Gift...
These very extra long oven mitts are for a friend of mine who runs the local bakery and I am sick of seeing her with burns up her arms from the trays... she is a weeny little thing and the trays can be quite heavy and she can't get anything long enough to cover her arms... so tomorrow I will surprise her with her very own ''extra long oven mitts'' with butterflies on as they are her favourite little creature... and if the work okay I will make her another pair...
Hubby has been in Perth getting the new 2nd hand car.... a 2006 Prado... he has just pulled up 15 mins ago... exciting a new car... our other car a Toyota Landcriuser was 10 yrs old... and now we don't have any kids at home and no trips to and thro from Perth with boarding school stuff we can down size WOOHOO.... it smells new but after being on a dirt road for the last 72kms its covered in dust hahaha........
Today at 6am it was 35 and by 12.30 it was 44 and even the pool water was warm today

Little Baskets and WIP's
20 more little baskets to add to my ever growing pile... not sure how many I have sewn so far it could be around 130 and I must start organising a drawn up plan on how I am going to put them together... colour wise that is as I am going to do the quilt as you go method... still making up my mind if I am going to machine quilt or hand quilt with an embroidery thread????
WIP's
I have started a ''WIP's'' list on my side bar and as I complete each one I will delete it from the list and hopefully that means I will have done them all in 2010......... well that's the big plan... and then maybe I will have a box of ''handmade presents'' all ready for Christmas...
These are ''friendship stars'' to add to my ''Ostrich quilt'' that I am doing via IFQ... go check out the gallery there and see what others have done... mine is more of a traditional round robin/ row by row...
These are all cut out ready for the rest of my friendship stars.... stay tuned for a photo in the next couple of days...
The weather has been in the 30's last week but it has slowly risen this weekend and will be in the 40's this week coming... by Friday they are saying it will be 44...

Oh Look What I Got...
Have a look at my new sewing machine that my hubby gave me for Christmas.... a PFAFF 4.0 and do you know what.... I need a license to drive it hahahahahaha... and do you know what the first thing I have done with it..................... mending hahahahaha... it has loads more room for bigger projects and loads more decorative stitches.... yes I am excited but scared of the ''new beast'' at the same time hahahahaha
Snow Bound
The first block in the new Bunny Hill BOM
so head over and have a look and print off the pattern and while there check out the other free patterns on offer...
The weather has been much cool this week 41's and the difference from 44 or 45 is big... even though some of you might not think so.

I Have Started This...
I have started this six month BOM over at Vicki's it is called ''Flirting with Flowers' it is so sweet and now that I have finished the first block I am itching to start the next one and I have a month 3 weeks to wait hahahaha.... The instructions for the block are in ''needle turn'' but I am not a needle turn girl so I am doing buttonhole by hand...
These are the fabric's that I am using... I picked them up in Spotlight last year as a fat 1/4 pack... I will of course be adding some other fabrics that will blend in with these. The fabric reminds me of the nursery rhyme ''oranges and lemons''
26 More Little Baskets
Yes I am behind but these will make up for December and now to catch up with last Sunday's 5 and today's 5... mmmmm maybe they will have to wait until next week and I will do 15 then...
We have had a week of temperatures in the 40's.. 43.. 44.. even a 45... I love summer and I love being able to swim in the pool but what I don't like is the nights when they don't get down below 36 and you have about 3 or 4 cold showers during the night then fall into be dripping to keep cool with the fan blowing on you...

Some Sewing In This Summer Heat
I finished the last stitches on these this morning and you will find these at Paula's blog ''Quilt Happy, Quilt Often" here http://pacificpatchwork.typepad.com/quilt_happy_quilt_often/ Paula has a ''Free Seasons Quilt Along" happening and the stitcheries are very cute... But I decided that I would use the patterns for other things so...................
This afternoon I made a table runner with them... at first I thought it would be a cushion but once again I changed my mind hahaha... thankyou Paula for the lovely patterns...
Today it reached 43 and in my sewing room with the little fan and the little air-con it was 40 hahaha.

On This Hot Day....
Today I finished off two cushions... the lime green fabric was given to me by my good friend Val... as she knows I am a fan of the colour... The larger cushion has crystals glued onto it... Both stitcheries are done in navy thread and will take up home on my bed..
Dirty Smelly Goats...
They might be dirty and they might be smelly but they are worth money... around an average of $35 a head... in the yards we have 859 of them all mustered over four days... there are 521 billies and 338 nannies...
We send out on average between 1500 and 2500 a year... they are what are now called a ''rangeland goat''... they do a fair bit of destruction to the bush and eat your stocks feed... the nanny averages two kidding's a year... so they breed quite well...

The Kids Have All Left... Fridges Have Been Cleaned...
Beds Changed And Remade
Well the middle daughter and her BF and the youngest son left this morning loaded up with their Christmas presents and an esky full of homemade sausages back to the city and their jobs on Monday... tanned and well fed for the week... So Mum here has been cleaning out the fridges and turning off ones that are no longer needed and changing bedding and closing their rooms until they come home again... Now I am just hanging around waiting for the phone to ring to say they are half way... then they will ring again to say they are home...
Meanwhile....
Here is the quilt that I have been making for my sister using the ''double 9 patch'' pattern... not sure why but the photo isn't to flash... it is quite bright as I used dark greens in the corners and a range of lime greens in the centres and a red for the centre block... I just finished sewing the binding this morning....
It is going to look so good in her lounge area... she has an open planned living area with a red feature wall and splashes of green everywhere....
AND
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
