Handmade Presents...
This week I have made a couple of pressies one for my ''present box'' and a gift for a new baby...
First I made another A4 book cover...
The front
The inside
A close up
And I also made some burp cloths
6 of them actually and I used some left over fabric's and a couple of fat quarters that I won in a raffle... I backed them with some flannel from previous baby quilts... this is the first time that I have made these and I always thought that they are such a good idea and they were so easy and they do look so cute as well...

Two Blocks...
I finished Kaaren's latest block in the Raggey Friends BOM
Still sticking to my green scrap box... I have the six blocks pinned up on my wall and I must say they are all looking quite good with just the greens being used... I am thinking as what to use for my "quilt as you go" bias strip... I did think a printed yellow or maybe a red but that could be a bit in your face the red and stand out far to much..... I did find that the block with the Raggey on was a little to big for the measured block so she lost her feet in the trimming... OOPS
For January I have two partners in the QBSA group 1 Marie and Jane both Aussies... Jane's block to me arrived in the mail this week...
Isn't it just gorgeous...
plus she sent me a reel of Master Threads in aqua just so thoughtful... thank you Jane and thank you for the great block and being my partner...

I like most of you  probably have... have been glued to the TV watching the Queensland flood disaster so a little reminder about the ''Auction'' that is happening around blog land... go see go read and go get a taste of what there is here ...

Some Headache...
Mother Nature must be having one almighty headache as she is taking it out on Mankind something horrible in Queensland...
It is just awful what is happening over there with flooding and devastation that is coming with the waters and what is being left behind... People's lives being taken and all they posses...
The blogging community and the sewing community have such  big hearts and are always trying to help in some way...
The girls over at Among The Gum Trees have organized a way in how some of us can help....
Go and check their posting out here to see how you may be able to help...
Also Jenny at ''Elefantz" is offering to of her quilts for auction go read her Flood Relief posting for the details on how you can bid for these two lovely quilts...
And there is more

At Make It Perfect Toni is hosting another auction
 read here and here
for all information on how this will work and what is for auction...

Thinking About...
Making presents through out the year so I do have a few things towards birthdays and Christmas... One thing I do find challenging is ''WHAT DO I MAKE AND WHAT WOULD PEOPLE LIKE'' and I say this as once a family member did make the comment ''that they didn't need anything else'' so I took this as an affront to me and stopped making things for this person and started to wonder if others were feeling the same???? so this last year I didn't give handmade and I can tell you it really peed me off and this year I don't care as people will be getting ''Handmade by Tarnyia"... and to start it off this is the first to go into my box of presents...
A ''Journal Cover''
which can be found in the Homespun magazine #45 Vol 8.2...
I did change the front and put an applique on it but the next one has the heart on the front... this fits and A4 binded book... and the front and back flap have a pocket... sorry the photo isn't better the time of day didn't help... I think it is rather cute and I have printed out different labels for the front cover that could be stitched ''Recipes, Favourites, Projects'' and I am sure there are other titles that could be used...
Also in the mail this week...
Some Amy Butler fat quarter packs... sssssooooo dreamy...
Bliss
Passion
Joy
They are just gorgeous and I am going to use them with the
and you will find the pattern here
But I need to get some background fabric now....

Block Swaps
This month I have two partners for the
Jane from Queensland and Marie form Victoria... two local girls... well fellow Australians even if I am not an Aussie hahaha...

Jane had on her block wish a log cabin with a turquoise centre followed by white, grey, orange and lime...
The colours go so well together love her choice and this is her first swap with us so it will be interesting to see her other blocks as she swaps...
Marie also was looking for a log cabin block a ''wonky log cabin'' her colours were ''Autumn''...
The pattern was 6.5 in so four were made to give Marie a 12.5 in block...
A busy day making blocks and I have seen Jane's block for me on the swap site and I just love it...

I have just heard the gun go off so that means a bungarra in the chook yard after the eggs again... that is about 5 so far this summer and they frighten the hell out of the chickens as well...
Another Free BOM In Blogland
Snow Hearts is a stitchery that can be found  here ...
The first block is up for you to download... on looking through this blog I found this... It isn't a photo of the free stitchery but...
Isn't it just gorgeous... so the decision is made... my Snow Hearts will be done in grey...
