And More...

My special birthday girl was Illene

and as I was sick with the dreaded flu.... AGAIN...

it was late in getting to her....

 she loved it ;) ;)

 Our son had a car accident, but was fine only damage to his work ute

and after a week of crap, 

while walking the dog I thought I would be clever 

and 

flash the boobs to the hubby as I was walking the block!!!!

totally forgot about my phone in my pocket and clocked myself in the eye.....................

 won't do that again hahahaha

We have also had a scare with the Hubby!

It was thought it was a heart attack, then a stroke....

but.... turned out it was a bit of crystal in the inner ear,

 that broke away and cause him to feel awful....

this was the first time he had been in hospital since he was born!!!

A little Of This....

Earlier in January I needed to finish off a birthday present...

Two huge Swoon cushions... with pebble quilting...

 I've signed up for this... 100 blocks!!!!! 

they are only 6.5 x 6.5 and 2 a week...

 fingers crossed I keep up heehee

these are some of the fabrics I have chosen

I will be mixing them up with my stash... of course!

 at the moment I am working on this pattern for my my grandie Judd

he is about to go into a bigger bed

I was hiding inside today... the temp got to 44!!!

I checked the veggie patch out this evening and it is struggling big time,

tomorrow is meant to be 43 so it will be hotter probably!!!!!!

Friday Night With Friends...

This was my achievement with FNWF

I decided to make a cushion out of my Swoon pattern

to see how it would look...

 bit of cutting out to be done

 my end result and off to bed...

 On Saturday while The Boarder watched the AFL match I sewed...

I used some orange thread and machine stitched 1/4 on both sides of the seams..

turned out ok I think and makes my lounge chair a little brighter...

Well Hello....

Yeah sorry I have been quiet on blogland but................

I have been extremely busy with family, babies, our block and a weeny bit of sewing!

firstly I need to do a little bit of tidying in my sewing room...

my poor teapot display need a good dusting

 then my shelves needed a good sorting out and things being put back in their right places and order... the other shelf of books was done too.

 our block down the back behind the house is just covered in leaves and the ''fire chief" who has a block behind us says ''the last owners never did any tidying or clearing up of the leaves/fallen branches/rubbish so our mission is to make a start... there are quite a few small straggly trees that aren't growing so they will come out and be dried for fire wood and there are a few fallen bigger branches that are going to be chainsawed for firewood this year...

 about 41 piles raked and 4000 to go hahaha

 I had this little fella and his Mum come stay for 10+ days while his Dad was away working on the oil rig... Mum's pregnancy is not a good one and she needs to rest, not pick up the little fella, no walking the dog, no hanging washing, changing the beds...

 so its compulsory ''nudie rudie" walks with Chuck and Yaya, the dogs, 

filling the trough up "nudie rudie"

swimming ''nudie rudie"

and 

just plain having fun while "nudie rudie"

 a lot of this through out the house

(wouldn't have it any other way)

 we also had a visit from Little Man Judd

being a koala with his Aunty

 a little bit of sewing amongst it all...

a small cushion for the Juddanaught... I used Michelle's ''baby alphabet" stitchery patterns.

 and some burping cloths

plus I have been reading your blogs just not commenting... 

still keeping an eye on you all

New Life...

that's right ''new life'' to these

 they cost me $30 for the four of them

I used 3...

I added a bit of this 

(the green can wouldn't work boo hoo)

 and got this

 used some blocks I had hidden away

 added ties to them

 as someone would probably try and pinch them!!!

 not bad

 for a couple of days playing...

now that I have new glasses I can get back to my secret hand sewing...

 a baby quilt for my daughters friend...

 this is one of my birthday pressies, from my daughter, her hubby, my bestie (grandson) and my bestie girlfriend... had some blocks laying around so made some quick cushions for it...

A Visitor And A Finish...

yes look who came into the yard looking for a dog bone to chew on...

 and not very impressed with me either

I finished a pillow/cushion for a birthday girl who is turn one on Sunday
she is having a party in a park and her Mum has been busy busy busy planning the very special day for her

I tried to use some of the same fabrics that I used in her quilt when she was born
and I used some Perle for some of the quilting...

The Start Of 2013...

My last post was on the 1st but that doesn't mean I haven't been here or not surfing all your blogs...  I have been it's just that I haven't posted anything as my camera died before Christmas... 

what a time to do that???... 

so whats a girl to do.... 

order a new one

 then I get a phone call from the store saying that one has been deleted from the stockist??? wouldn't that of been red flagged??? so I choose another and I am assured that I won't need a new memory card as they are all standard 

''are you sure as I do live 7 hrs from a shop to buy one and mail would take 2 weeks"... 

''yep I am positive"... 

well guess what shop man? mine don't fit it... a little bit of swearing when on when I tried it... 

so now I have to wait until I go to Perth in 2 weeks to buy one and I will be taking my new camera with me just to make sure I get the right one...

do you want to see it...

 as you can see it is a LOT different from my little digital Olympus... 

the newbie is a Fuji and has LOTS of other buttons to press and play with... it did cost me more than I generally pay for a camera... 

but hey I have a Grandie coming and two weddings this year so a little splash was needed...

so seeing I haven't had a camera to use I decided to hijack hubby's work one shshshshshsssshhhhh... 

so at least you can see I have been sewing...

 two mug rugs for two friends having birthdays

 two pillows/cushions for my daughter who had a birthday last week...

 I used a variegated thread for the embroidery 

and some of my Amy Butler stash was used...

 the embroidery pattern is from Patchwork and Stitching Vol 12 No 5...

also I started, made and finished this baby quilt last week

 it is for my niece who is expecting a boy in a couple of months... 

and I didn't have to go shopping for any of the fabrics as they were all found in my stash... 

I even had enough batting and some lovely soft flannel for the backing...

this mug rug is for a swap and you can see what the theme was for this one...

 and finally my little spider plant thingy flowered... it didn't last year...

I just love it as it is so different...

 we had a storm go through here on Wednesday while hubby was in town 

(I was away delivering birthday pillows)

a bit of damage around the place... this tree was up rooted and on the ground when hubby came home...

it's a huge tree and took him two days to trim up and get standing again... 

I love the canopy and shade this one gives and it is always full of birds during nesting time...

the pool shed was ripped from its bolts and is roped down at the moment... a few larger branches off pepper trees have dropped as well... hubby says there are trees down through the bush as well...

we did get 30 mls of much needed rain though.
