The Flu and a Finish...

Yep the dread lurgy has been in my household this past two weeks... first hubby had it and then me and for some reason I had it worst than him??? our wool was being loaded out on Monday and I was doing the hoist part... well the truckie said I should go home as they could do the last 5 bales after I had done 100 of them hahaha... my temp was up and I had both the windows open in the work ute and the air con on while operating the hoist...
but today I feel better and even got dressed no PJ's today...
yep I even loaded wool bales in my PJ's...
when my head wasn't throbbing to much I did work on that WIP I showed you last post
and I have it finished....
I quilted in all the ditches for each border...
quilted pebbles in the centre and free motioned around the centre applique...
free motioned around the flying geese and squiggles around them...
I stitched in the ditch free motion in the square in the square row...
the star row is ditch stitch as well...
it has taken a few days to get it completed however it is finished and the binding is attached and sewn down in  red
and sitting on my dining room table for now...
I started this as a BOM with IFQ a few years ago... I struggled with the pinwheels round for some reason I just couldn't get into it... so my pinwheels ended up very small and only in the corners and NOT sewn very well at all...
the rest of this week I need to work on my ''secret swap'' I didn't think I was going to get it finished by the end of the month mailing deadline... I still have a week.

A Finish and A Start...

I have finally finished quilting my ''string scrap buster quilt'' and I am so happy with it...
doesn't it look so pretty nestled among the bougainvillea
 rustic bush props (hahaha)

I love the jewel stone effect that happens with this pattern...
I just quilted in the ditch in a grid fashion... later on I am thinking that I may do a hand stitch in the white with a contrast perle cotton that will depend on what room it ends up in... the quilt measures 86 x 90 inches and will fit on my white brass bed
and this is the next project to be finished... I started this on IFQ (international friendship quilters) a few years ago... it will be a table cloth for me...

Happy Belated Mother's Day To Everyone...

I had the best day...
I got to spend it with my kids which is a rare thing when you live 7 hours away from them and they have spent some of the past years in boarding school and now work...
they always ring but it is so nice to wake up with them on that special day.
We decided we would go to Perth for Mother's Day and spend it with our Mums as well...
so my two daughters and I cooked lunch a three course of course hahaha
eldest daughter made Thai Prawns for entree... I made Lemon and Parsley Chicken... and our other daughter made a Chocolate Tart...
it was a beautiful spread of food... the prawns were just yummo and the tart was chocolate heaven... the table was set just lovely with a very tall vase full of Gladioli...we did spread the meal out over around four hours... tummies were bursting and I didn't need dinner... I am sure the two Grannies went home happy as well... especially with their bounty of roses and pressies...
these are the beautiful flowers my middle daughter and her partner gave me for Mother's Day...
and this is my bounty of pressies...
gorgeous tea towels
lime green lantern
pj pants
and a gorgeous mug
(in all my years of being a Mum I have never had one)
just spoilt I am... thank you ''gremlins'' for a fantastic day
Luv M xxx

Around My Backyard...

This little lamb was born in the sheep yards during shearing last week and was so weeny that Hubby decided to let mum and baby out to bond... she was far to small to stress out...
and she has grown in the last week
but she is still so weeny that she has a hard time catching up with mum...
there are two troughs out of the back of the house in two separate paddocks and the goats like coming in there each morning for a drink...
usually there are about 200 goats come in for a drink
but on Tuesday morning there would have been nearly 400...
and they didn't care about me watching
 there were mainly billies
and gee do they make a load of noise...
