Block Three...

Emu's...
now that isn't very bright as the fabrics I chose are a wee bit more colourful than that...
never mind you can still see the progress...
today I will add the sashing and start the middle row which has a tree in each block plus more...
and thank to to those that left comments yesterday...
I went to reply but they are deleted from my hotmail account which could be my fault OOPS...

Block Two...

the next animal that I have chosen for the quilt is the
dingo...
and
yes he does have a knife in that paw
and
he will have a fork in the other paw when the block next to him is constructed...
onto the emu and chicks block now...
I would have got quite a bit of sewing done on this yesterday but.........
I had no power for 7 hours due to one of the batteries in the solar power set up causing it all to shut down...
even the back up generator didn't want to play with me...
and
it was 42 degrees yesterday so I had no fan
and
I couldn't open the fridge as Hubby was out for the day
and
he didn't get home until 3 pm and this all happened at 8 am...
so a very boring day...
life in the bush...

The First Block...

Some friends have asked me if I would make a quilt for them
as they were expecting their first Grandie together
and of course I said yes...
they were looking for something very Aussie to do with animals in our area
and some not hahaha
so I chose these patterns
the Grandparents were quite excited and loved the patterns
so I have chosen with them some of the animals from each pattern to use in one quilt
and this is the first block...
so cute I think...
and I have the dingo done just need to do the hand embroidery on it
there is quite a bit of cutting out and sewing in this quilt and it will be so worth it in the end... Oh! and the baby has arrived and it is a girl... now I can add bits of pink here and there...

do you like pin cushions?
check these out here

Nappies....

Look at all these blowing in the breeze
and would you like to know how old they are?
these belonged to my MIL and they were used on my hubby
and he is going to be 55 this July...
I used them for all three of mine plus others I purchased...
when our eldest was born
I had disposables for the long trip home
and...............
she decided that she would have an allergic reaction to them
so they never touched her wee bum again after that...
I have soaked these overnight and they have come up just beautifully
some of them are still in remarkable condition even though they wont be used as nappies
some will stay whole and some of them are going to be turned into burp cloths...
there will be two piles one for the grandie that is coming
 and
another pile for our eldest daughter to put away...

It's A ...............

BOY
sorry for some reason it wont rotate for me...
but you can see he is waving to us all...
and
look at what has come out of the shed...
my Dad made the cradle when we had our first baby 27 years ago
and Hubby has been refurbishing it ready for the first of our Grandies to arrive
it has come up beautifully just like when it was first used...
and because it is custom made we had to get a new mattress made for it too
and that meant new sheets too...
so I tried my hand at fitted sheets
and I must say they came up quite ok...
Hubby is going to take it down to the expecting couple next week

A Visitor And A Finish...

yes look who came into the yard looking for a dog bone to chew on...
and not very impressed with me either
see how he puffed himself up giving me the warning...
 and
I finished a pillow/cushion for a birthday girl who is turn one on Sunday
she is having a party in a park and her Mum has been busy busy busy planning the very special day for her

I tried to use some of the same fabrics that I used in her quilt when she was born
and I used some Perle for some of the quilting...

A Bit Embarrassing...

Why you ask... well we have done no work in our vegie/fruit garden for the past couple of years as we were/are selling but after having nothing fresh to eat from our garden and no jam making happening we have had enough and if the sale goes through the new owners will have a vegie garden...
so yesterday Hubby worked most of the day in there chopping out bushes and he took away 3 trailer loads so far... (he takes it out the bush and dumps it in the paddocks so that bush seed gets caught in it and when it rains it will germinate new bush growth there)
this morning before the heat I spent 2 hours raking, chopping, turning and pulling...
compost bins all tidy
tyre beds all deweeded and turned ready for some sheep poo
a couple of weeks ago we had some awful hot days 48 to 50 degrees
well the lemon tree didn't like it at all and dropped some of the fruit and leave...
 the lime did the same
hubby has removed the two over grown bushes from here
and this will be the next area to be worked on
 then these two beds
dirty old feet and my lime nail polish is covered up
