Blocks For A Cause....
If you head over to Helen Stubbings of Hugs and Kisses and read this posting you can help a wonderful cause and all you need do is make a few nine patch blocks and post them... these are my 5 ready to go in the mail on Thursday...
So go look and see and help a these people to raise some money from auctioning off quilts made from ''your'' blocks to build a toilet and a well in a small African village... not asking much really...
How are you all keeping warm in Aussie land... I for one have had my inside fire going most of the last 4 days... I am NOT a cold weather girl... and I know it doesn't get half as cold here as it does for some of you overseas girls... but hey I am use to the heat and want it back...
soon please...
All the bulbs I planted a few weeks ago with help from the hubby... better put that bit in hehehe... have started to show... I am going to have a lovely show of flowers this year... woohoo

The Bush... An Old Fence
And
A New Fence...
Greg and our neighbour have been working on our boundary fence at our south end for the past few weeks and every time I go down there with Greg or he goes I had been forgetting to take the camera... not only did I want you all to see the new fence but the old fence as well... I was totally amazed by it and think you will....
These are a few pictures of the rock formations down the south end of our place... something to do with volcanic rocks???
They remind me of post card photo's... they are having an amateur ''photography competition'' in town soon based on ''our town Mt Magnet'' I have a few photo's that I might put in... they are going to choose 12 photo's for a calendar....

This is my favourite photo... you would have to be there to see this formation as it is quite imposing and many things go through your mind... this area would be a great camping spot so you could explore... good climbing shoes would be needed....
Now.... you see these posts going up through these rocks????? Greg says these have been there since the late 1890's... all hand cut by axe and put right across these formations...

No dirt to dig them into....
Rocks were piled around them in a certain way to hold the post up and then wire twitched around... to see these through the hills and along the ground where it is just far too hard to dig and remember no post hold drill to get them in... amazing to see... the boys left these through the hills for history and put the new fence around the rock formation... no way were they going to attempt to try and put the new fence in where the old was....

The boys have put in 7 kms of new fence and cleared enough room along both side to drive... does look impressive...

And notice the steel posts no wood there and all the holes for the main strainers where done with machinery....
New Additions....
Meet Ivan and Iggy... twin boys of Issy....
It was a cold windy day and the compost was a good place top rest out of the wind while Mum nibbled close by....
We have had another two born this week as well... just need to get close enough to take a photo...
It has been very cold here the past two days... freezing for me as I like the hot summer and today is going to be another very cold day... looks like that inside fire will be going again today hehehehehe chop more wood sweetheart hehehehehe

A Finish... Cooking... and New Babies
This week I have been working on a Christmas Round Robin that I
did at IFQ about 2 years ago... I have used it on my dining room table for the last 2 Christmas's with the quilting not finished or the binding not sewn down.... hey it still looked good in the dinning room... so this week I finished the stippling and quilting and quilting around the angel's and sewing the binding down....
It does look so much better finished and off the pile in my sewing room and in the draw in the dining room ready for this coming Christmas.... geez I should have put it on the list so I could take another number off hehehehehe....

Some yummy home baked buns to go with ..............
A big pot of pea and ham soup.... can you smell it bubbling away there....
And...........
we have babies.... the first of the pet sheep flock....

Meet Ivan and Iggy (Ignatius)
They are twins and their mum is Issy... this is her second lambing and her first set of twins....
she brought them home to the house for ''show and tell'' then went away for a couple of days by herself...
I found them sleeping in the old compost bins out the back trying to keep out of the wind on this day..... so cute.... the flock is growing hehehehehehe.... there is about four more to have lambs and two of them always have twins as well....
Enjoy the rest of the weekend...

A Secret Project and Some Shopping
I am making another ''Double 9 Patch'' but as a throw and it is a secret and I can't say much as the person checks my blog hahahahaha... most of the greens I got last year for my birthday in a ''6 inch charm square''.... I trimmed them all up with this project in mind...
All sewn and chopped and ready to be re-sewn... stay tuned....

Yesterday at my local group we had a workshop with Pauline Rogers from ''Quilters World'' absolutely wonderful and so worth the day in town... Pauline's workshop was based on our tools and what we need and what we don't need and what is causing us so much grief when cutting and measuring....
Sorry for the photo quality it is very overcast here and the room is reflecting light badly...
I purchased quite a few ''tools''... must haves... and wants... hehehe
I swore I would never make bias but hey a girl can change her mind... I bought a couple of the larger ones as Pauline showed us a new wonderful way to do quilt as you go... and one day when I do it I will show you how with photo's....
The little packet in the middle contains a ''tapered tailor's awl'' so handy to use at your sewing machine for keeping seams down...
Now these to beauties are "must haves and needs"... Pauline used the ''sew slip'' mat on her machine when she gave a demo on ''motion free sewing'' and the difference it made was unbelievable and i can not wait to use it... the other ''mesh transfer canvas'' what a tool to have... all those dark backgrounds that you don't use because you cant see the pencil marks... this is just the baby for that....
A glue pen with to refills.. this could replace heat and bond in my sewing room and the pencil with a refill of lead and white lead... using the white lead for the mesh transfer canvas...
and this weeny baby I just fell in love with... lust passion a ''I want''.... this can be left on as it draws hardly any power and with having solar power so handy....

Now these rulers are just wonderful... Pauline spoke how most rulers have thicker lines at the one inch mark... she pointed out how this can not be one inch as the line is so much thicker therefore putting your measurements out... these rulers have all their lines the same thickness and the best part... those white circles are grips... your fabric will not move...
I learnt so much... Pauline showed us how to make our own chenille strips instead of buying expensive ready made ones... the ideas are flying around on how I am going to use these...
All these ''tools'' are on her website plus hints and tips for all to use...
If you get a chance to go to a workshop with Pauline you will come away with fire in your belly... go check out her travelling schedule...

WIP's To Be Finished 2010... No.5
Now to say sorry for the lack of flash in these photo's... just not sure why it didn't go off... these block patterns I got from the IFQ site when it was there birthday and I think it was the 5th birthday for the site... and I just had to make the butterfly and I needed something else to go in there.....
Done out of my scrap boxes of pink and purple oh yes a little bit of lime... just a dash though...
Who is it for............ who knows... it will be in my finished box of gifts for birthdays/Christmas/friendships.... it is quite cute and would make a great floor rug for a new baby girl...
I am so happy to have another one quilted and binded and the list getting shorter... this week I have also finished quilting another one and only have the binding to sew down... and it's not on the list but I will tell you why when I post a photo of it all finished... hahahaha

Block Five...
I am loving Vicki's Flirting With Flowers... and I am so happy that I chose the little fabric pack I had it is very bright and very cheery and of course there was a lime green in there... block six might be up on Vicki's today... wonder what it will be?
If you pop over to Bev's blog at Kainga Happenings you will find she is having a give away celebrating her 200th post... she is giving away a lovely little stitchery pattern with some embroidery thread.... why am telling you all this as I want to win it hehehehehe...
Go look as it is drawn on the 6th June...
I have been up since 10 to 5 this morning and it is nearly 6.30 and I can see it is just getting light out side and I can feel the chilly coming in as the sun comes up... the last few days have been what we call ''tourist weather'' but we haven't had any tourists hahaha...
