Batik's and Roses....
When my eldest went to Bali the other week... the reason for my house sitting in Perth...
she remembered her Mum while away and sourced out some fabrics for me... beautiful batik's...
the photo's never do the fabric's justice...
the colours are so vibrant and so pretty... there is about a metre and a half in these... not sure what to do with them yet so I'll put them away for now until I see a pattern but I am thinking something summery maybe some pants????
This piece she got from the actual ''batik making factory'' on her little tour around the island...
it feels so different from the other pieces and she tells me cost her a''lot'' more... this piece I could use for a background and pick other fabric out using the colours with in this...
spoilt I was... plus I got a couple of very nice sarong's which are my summer clothing out here and movies to watch while I sew...
are these roses just gorgeous... ''Seduction'' these ones are...
just perfectly formed slight hints of colour...
not sure what this one is called... it does have a slight scent once fully opened...
just beautiful...
I have always loved roses as my Nana had those very big old fashioned ones in her garden
and the smell was just wonderful...
she would always buy me rose scent powder from Avon for Christmas...
when she was sick and in the last months of her life she would tell me not to come to close as she smelt...
I told her never she smelt like my Nana like roses and I would lay down next to her and we would talk until she was too tired... geez I miss her but while I have roses and flowers in my garden she is always around me...

  2. Hello Tarnyia,

Congratulations for training your daughter so well, she did great with the fabrics. Roses and Nana's seem to go together. Seduction is a great rose it just keeps on flowering. Happy days.

  3. Gorgeous roses!
Hi Tarnyia, you came by my blog and asked what thread I use (i couldn't reply cause no email address came through) so I thought I'd come here to let you know. I use Rasant thread for both machine and hand stitching. I try and use the colour to match the block I'm sewing on, otherwise I use a tan colour. Hope that helps and thanks for visiting,
    Cathy (Cabbage Quilts) xo
